more uga...

I really love fall. I mean, what is not to love? The weather gets cooler, I get to celebrate my anniversary, and football is on the tv. Now, I am not a huge fan of UGA (as most people know we are a tech household, and I have been closely following my beloved Bears this season), but I have really enjoyed doing these football themed birthday cakes. Up next is a very cool, very unique wedding cake. Stay tuned for those pictures. Along those lines, if you, or someone you know is getting married, be sure to get on the calendar for a wedding cake tasting!

a rainy wedding day

Recently, I have been doing a very poor job of keeping up my blog. Summer has been busy. We have gone on vacation, and I have been training for my half marathon in October. I have some projects that I need to post, and I will do that very soon. I just delivered this wedding cake, and I am so happy with the way that it turned out that I just had to come home and blog about it. I have really enjoyed working with this bride and her family. The wedding was at the bride's parents home. It was an amazing set up. Except for one thing, the bottom fell out of the sky as we were driving over to set up. If it is true that rain on your wedding day is good luck, this couple better buy a lotto ticket! It was a challenge setting up, but I think that the results were worth it! The grooms cake was also fun to do. Both the bride and groom are recent UGA alums, and so they wanted that reflected in the grooms cake. So, I made a football field, and they had a graphic artist create a jumbo tron with their picture in it.

Tennessee Cake

This cake was for my Principal's son's 14th birthday. Obviously, he is a Tennessee fan!

a house divided...

These cupcakes were for a Monroe Academy class reunion. I did these for the sister of one of my Utility Club friends, and when I met with her, I got to relive a few of my reunion planning memories. I can't believe it has almost been a year since my class reunion, and I know the next one will be here before we know it!

This cake was my first "house divided" cake. The person I did it for wanted a joint birthday cake for her mom and husband. Since their birthdays are just a few days apart we combined their favorite teams onto a shared cake.

Busy Busy week

Here are some pics from the week~
Yesterday, we not only got to celebrate at a great 30th birthday party, but I got the do the cake as well!
Football birthday cake for a friend from church's son. Little Damon celebrated his 10th yesterday, and he made my day when he called me and told me how much he liked his cake!

Here is a mini van cake (well, I think it looks more like a VW bus than minivan, but i guess its all in the interpretation). Another friend of mine from church's son was celebrating his third birthday, and apparently the little guy loves mini vans. I am still pretty new to basic decorating, and trying out a 3d cake was totally new. But, the more i worked on this cake, the more it grew on me.

On Friday, I conducted my last meeting as president of the Utility Club. I didn't think that it would make me emotional, but I did tear up just a bit. I was really excited to pass the gavel on! It was a lovely meeting, and the club is lucky to be inviting 6 wonderful new women as active members. Below are the corsages I made for the new ladies.

Slaton- Anderson Wedding

Latest wedding cakes. The bride's cake was tiers of pound cake and yellow cake filled with raspberry, strawberry, and lemon filling. The bride did a great job picking out the flowers to go in between the tiers. I also really liked the monogram that she picked out as the topper. The groom's cake was chocolate on chocolate and decorated with a crimson Alabama logo made from fondant.

Week 18

Here is a Buzz Brithday cake for a friend of mine from church's son. This is another minority family, like my own, that roots for the other team from Georgia. So naturally, Brian especially liked this cake.

Super Bowl

Happy Super Bowl Sunday! Here are the pics of the cake I took to the youth group party. Brian was a big help making the logos for the cake.
