a tasting...

here are the results of my lastest cake tasting. I met with a bride and her mother this evening, and we enjoyed some chocolate and lemon cake with raspberry filling. The bride had told me that she was using a pool blue as one of her accent colors, and so i decided to play around with some contrasting shapes and colors. She decided on doing alternating designs on the bottom three layers and the couples new monogram on the top. I am really excited to see how this one turns out!

lake time

Its been a great week! Last Sunday, we went to the lake house for a few days. It started out with fathers day, both of our families were there with us, which was a lot of fun. You can check out some of the pictures that I posted on facebook. We had a great time hanging out by the water and in Milledgeville. The dogs really enjoyed their time at the lake; I think that they were more disappointed about coming home than we were. I got home just in time to bake a cake for a 30th birthday party. There was a Hawaiian theme for the get together, and I love the colors that the hostess picked out.

better late than never!

It's been another busy week, so busy, that I have neglected the blog! The cupcakes below were for a cheerleader reunion. I did the megaphone cookies in the school colors and the initials.

These desserts were for an engagement party. I did the key lime cupcakes with chocolate shells.
Below are handmade white chocolate cordial cups with chocolate mousse and a strawberry garnish.

Busy Busy week

Here are some pics from the week~
Yesterday, we not only got to celebrate at a great 30th birthday party, but I got the do the cake as well!
Football birthday cake for a friend from church's son. Little Damon celebrated his 10th yesterday, and he made my day when he called me and told me how much he liked his cake!

Here is a mini van cake (well, I think it looks more like a VW bus than minivan, but i guess its all in the interpretation). Another friend of mine from church's son was celebrating his third birthday, and apparently the little guy loves mini vans. I am still pretty new to basic decorating, and trying out a 3d cake was totally new. But, the more i worked on this cake, the more it grew on me.

On Friday, I conducted my last meeting as president of the Utility Club. I didn't think that it would make me emotional, but I did tear up just a bit. I was really excited to pass the gavel on! It was a lovely meeting, and the club is lucky to be inviting 6 wonderful new women as active members. Below are the corsages I made for the new ladies.

And the winner is...

I want to thank everyone who entered my first giveaway and became new followers- the winner, Erin, will be getting carrot cake cupcakes. so congrats to her!

Slaton- Anderson Wedding

Latest wedding cakes. The bride's cake was tiers of pound cake and yellow cake filled with raspberry, strawberry, and lemon filling. The bride did a great job picking out the flowers to go in between the tiers. I also really liked the monogram that she picked out as the topper. The groom's cake was chocolate on chocolate and decorated with a crimson Alabama logo made from fondant.
