text-align: left;">Here is another post about a recipe I made from pinterest. This one was a big thumbs up, the first picture is of my niece, Pearl, sampling a roll, and she definitely approved. I have never had any success making any sort of bread that uses yeast. This recipe changed all that for me. This recipe claims to be identical to the rolls that they serve at Texas Roadhouse, I don't know if it is exactly the same as those rolls, but they were delicious. One thing that made this recipe super easy was making the rolls in a muffin pan, so I didn't have to get my hands messy. It also includes a cinnamon butter recipe that is also super duper good. This recipe is courtesy of the blog A Godly Heritage, and you can access the recipe here.

This is a thumbs up/thumbs down situation.
So first for the, not so good. I made this cake batter fudge expecting to want to lick the bowl. I made it exactly according to the recipe, and I think that the flavoring ratios need some work. It did not live up to what the original blogger said about it. I have posted the pin below.
Next is the pull apart bread, this was a huge success, I think that you can link to the recipe from the embedded pin below. We had this with spaghetti, but it would also make an awesome side for a tailgate or pot luck supper. I have not made it, but there is a similar recipe on the same blog for a sweet bread made in a similar manner.
So I eventually got around to looking at the site, and I then realized that my life would not be complete without yet another avenue to look at what people are doing. I signed up and after what seemed like an eternity, my invitation to join showed up as an email. I have really enjoyed looking at all the things that people pin and repin and them repin some more. The more I have used the site, I have begun to wonder how many of the ideas are actually doable. So, I am going to start doing reviews of ideas that I find on pinterest. I am thinking of this as the next incarnation of my blog. Also, if you have tried some ideas that you have found on pinterest, I would love to hear about them, and have you guest blog for me!creative resolutionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09796288381084630004noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1141976989745196646.post-91881894515166358202011-12-07T07:29:00.000-08:002011-12-07T19:57:07.065-08:00Caramel pecan pie

I picked this recipe up in prison. Through my job I have learned all sorts of interesting things, many of which I cannot relate while in polite company. This pie recipe is thankfully something I can share, you can find it here . My aide that helps me out each night is always copying recipes and mailing them home, and sometimes she shares what she finds with me. She shared this recipe with me, and I made it for Thanksgiving this year. It was really good, and really easy.

I mean, what is not to love? The weather gets cooler, I get to celebrate my anniversary, and football is on the tv. Now, I am not a huge fan of UGA (as most people know we are a tech household, and I have been closely following my beloved Bears this season), but I have really enjoyed doing these football themed birthday cakes. Up next is a very cool, very unique wedding cake. Stay tuned for those pictures. Along those lines, if you, or someone you know is getting married, be sure to get on the calendar for a wedding cake tasting!creative resolutionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09796288381084630004noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1141976989745196646.post-12281801123440202722011-09-17T09:46:00.000-07:002011-09-17T09:46:56.256-07:00Game Day Birthday Cake

Georgia themed birthday cake for a 9th Birthday.creative resolutionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09796288381084630004noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1141976989745196646.post-90310843942960340882011-08-31T14:38:00.000-07:002011-08-31T14:38:23.151-07:00It's beginning to look a lot like ChristmasI have been doing some crafting lately. I have made a lot of caramel icing over the past few years, but I have never made any candy type caramels. So I got my candy thermometer out and tried making some. I have also been very intrigued by how people are putting bacon on everything, so I made my caramels with bacon. Now, I knew that I loved caramel and bacon, but I was not sure how I would feel about the two together. Well, they turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself. The crunchy, salty bacon was a perfect counter to the sweet caramel. I would love to whip up some more soon, so if you are in the mood for something unique, let me know!creative resolutionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09796288381084630004noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1141976989745196646.post-67772262940581481662011-08-10T19:26:00.000-07:002011-08-10T19:26:21.707-07:00Birthday Cake

This week, I got to do birthday cakes for two friends who share the same birthday. We went to Atlanta on Saturday, and I took the above cake for a friend's 30th birthday. We had a lot of fun floating down the Chattahoochee and then eating dinner (and cake) at Marlow's Tavern.
Summer has been busy. We have gone on vacation, and I have been training for my half marathon in October. I have some projects that I need to post, and I will do that very soon. I just delivered this wedding cake, and I am so happy with the way that it turned out that I just had to come home and blog about it. I have really enjoyed working with this bride and her family. The wedding was at the bride's parents home. It was an amazing set up. Except for one thing, the bottom fell out of the sky as we were driving over to set up. If it is true that rain on your wedding day is good luck, this couple better buy a lotto ticket! It was a challenge setting up, but I think that the results were worth it! The grooms cake was also fun to do. Both the bride and groom are recent UGA alums, and so they wanted that reflected in the grooms cake. So, I made a football field, and they had a graphic artist create a jumbo tron with their picture in it.creative resolutionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09796288381084630004noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1141976989745196646.post-85646038487432442992011-06-02T13:16:00.000-07:002011-06-02T13:16:47.466-07:00Anniversary Cake and 100 posts!

Today marks my 100th blog post! This is officially 100, not like the last time where I had some drafts in there running the numbers up. To celebrate this occasion, I am doing a giveaway. enter by Sunday June 5th by leaving a comment here or on my facebook page. in the comment let me know what you would like (cake, cookies, or cupcakes) if you win the drawing!
This weeks project was an anniversary cake. Last year, I did the cakes for this couple's wedding. Instead of saving their top layer, they used the whole cake at the wedding. So, they had me make a new cake for their anniversary trip over the weekend. creative resolutionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09796288381084630004noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1141976989745196646.post-54538491492257326982011-05-31T13:55:00.000-07:002011-05-31T13:55:03.249-07:00the start of summer

Well, it has been a little too long since I have updated my blog. Here are some of the highlights! Above are the desserts I made for the confirmation class luncheon at church. Of the group that joined the church, I went to Belize this past summer with all but one of them. Sadly, the Key Lime pie decided to commit suicide on the way to church. Brian pointed out that this was my first true crisis delivering food, so I guess I am doing pretty good in that respect. And, thankfully, there was enough strawberry pie and cheesecake to serve the people at the luncheon.

The day we got out for spring break, I went with some of the kids from Grace to Noah's Ark. Noah's Ark is a animal sanctuary that is close by. It had been a few years since I visited, and I was very impressed with all the improvements. The picture above is of a bear (you know I can't resist a photo opportunity of a bear) But this is not just any bear, he shares his home with a lion and a tiger. This family was seized by the DEA from a drug dealer when they were all cubs. The people at Noah's Ark said that this is the only "family" of its type in the United States, pretty cool! What was not cool was when one of my students dropped her car keys into the emu pen. Thankfully, we found a stick and were able to fish her keys away from the emus.

Since I was off this week, my mom took me to Atlanta. We were going to go purchase my new mixer, but since we found one on line much cheaper than the one at Macy's we ordered it off the internet. And I was happy that we still made the trip to Atlanta. I had to pick up a dress on Roswell Road, so we headed up north first. On our way to the dress shop, we passed a place called Red Baron Antiques. I have never seen so many cool (and expensive) things all in one place. I am talking everything from Tiffany lamps (the real ones, not the kind in Applebees) to old rides from carnivals. They also do an auction four times a year, so I would check it out if you have some money to burn, or you are in the market for an 18 foot fountain for your front yard. After looking at antiques we ate at Mary Mac's Tea Room. This was a place I had always wanted to visit, and it was delicious! I cannot wait to go back.

Our last stop of the day was at the Botanical Gardens. I had not been since they opened all of the new stuff. This is the new edible garden, which partially sits where the old parking lot was. The vines along the back are actually apple trees. We got there right in time to take a tour. I had never been on the tour before, and I learned a lot about the gardens from our leader.
It has been a busy couple of days. On top of work and school, the kitchen has been through several cycles of mess up clean up. I did a firetruck cake for a baby shower, and the birthday cake for Caroline's party. Caroline's mom gave me one of the plates that she was going to use for the party, and we used that as our inspiration for the cake design.
This couple is expecting a baby in July, and they decided to use this cake to let their family know what to expect when the baby gets here. The soon to be grandmother ordered the cake, but she had no idea that they birthday couple had asked me to make the cake colored on the inside. I had a great time being in on their secret, and I had fun making the inside blue and the outside chocolate decorations!
creative resolutionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09796288381084630004noreply@blogger.com0
