week 17 part 2

My next delivery was a birthday cake. I did a combination chocolate sponge/ basic chocolate cake w/ a whipped chocolate butter cream. I had a great time decorating this one with the fondant flowers. I think that without the pink center, they would be very similar to stephonitis. I aslo played around with some shimmer dust.

week 17

I am going to have to break this post up into several, because we all know what a formatting genius I am. I had 4 deiliveries to make today, and they werent small, either! This has been a crazy week between class, work, baking, and finalizing some decor details for a wedding in two weeks. I am ready for a vacation!
Delivery #1- Dessert for 75. For this Mexican themed wedding shower (the hosts had El Durango cater- YUM) I made Mexican wedding cookies, key lime mini cupcakes, and kahlua brownies with browned butter icing. No pics of the cookies- oops!

one down four to go!

This is a crazy, busy week, and I am loving every minute of it! Here is a run down of what is left: baby shower, 80th birthday 1st birthday, and a wedding shower. I should probably also include a run down of all the class stuff I have left, but I won't bore you with those details. Yesterday two of my classes met for the last time this semester, and one of my professors asked me to bake cupcakes to celebrate. In honor of meeting on the UGA campus one last time (until fall semester) I made some G sugar cookies. I had looked for an oval cutter to make the shape of the G easier to create, but I had no luck here on the southside. Next time I head to Atlanta, I am going to find a baking shop with an oval cutter.

Week 16

Here is the newest project, a bow tie for Brian. It's been a while since I got the sewing machine out, and it feels good to branch out!

Welcome Ella!

Yesterday, Nat and Shannon Dougthie (along with 2 very excited sets of families) welcomed their daughter, Ella, into the world. Shannon asked me to make sugar cookie to hand out to guests as they come to visit their new addition to the family! Think of it as a new twist on the cigar :) I got to deliver them to the hospital this morning, and I had a great visit with the new mom, baby and grandparents.

Week 15

This week I was asked by an old high school friend (and fellow Baylor grad) to make a birthday cake for the youth group she works with. I had been wanting to do a paisley design for a while, and I incorporated her favorite colors of pink and purple. I also tried out a from scratch marble cake recipe, and from what I have heard it turned out great!

Caroline's First Birthday

This weekend, Caroline Powers celebrated her first birthday. Her parents hosted a dog themed birthday party on Saturday afternoon. So, I made cream cheese pound cake cupcakes with butter cream icing and a monogrammed bone sugar cookie. Our dogs were also invited (The Powers' Golden Maggie is Lily's mom); there is a picture of the birthday girl with Crosby below.

Master's 2010

April in Georgia means many things, and probably one of the most famous events is the Master's Tournamnet. I am not a golfer, but I saw the idea for this project in one of my new books. So, I thought it was appropriate for this time of year. The Historical Society here in Griffin hosted a Master's party, and I called a friend that was going to see if I could make these for her to take. I really wanted to go, but the night they held it, I was barely able to make it from class to the Utility Club meeting.

Week 14 and anonymous "cupcake grams"

This week, I was asked to make and deliver some cupcakes and not let the reciever know who the sender was. The only request from the sender was that the cupcakes be huge and have lots of frosting. I had to make a trip to Hobby Lobby to get some supplies for another project, so I picked up a jumbo cupcake pan. I also used my new flower cupcake cutters to make the decorations out of gum paste.

Happy Easter!

I have had a great time this Easter weekend. Between cookouts, brunch, and Easter dinner after church, we stayed super busy. Honestly, I wouldn't want it any other way!
I made the mini cheesecakes with chicks for my parents brunch on Saturday. I had a bit of an issue getting the chicks made because I wanted to use marzipan. So I bought marzipan from a certain local store, and when I got it home it was hard as a rock. We took that back, and I ran to Walmart early on Saturday morning. No marzipan there, so I settled for fondant. Brian was a huge help getting these guys made!

Easter Sunday started out with the sunrise service and pancake breakfast at the church. Then we made last minute preparations for both of our families to come over for dinner. I had a great time playing with flowers, and we also had a blast getting everyone together.

I found pussy willow branches at Sam's, and I used some little Easter ornaments as decorations.

Week 13

Ok I have been slacking on my blogging lately. I promise I will make up for it this weekend.

Here are some bunny butt cupcakes. More to come, and have a great Easter Weekend! If anyone will be up early on Sunday, the First Pres sunrise service is at 7:00 with a pancake breakfast to follow...
