It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
I have been doing some crafting lately. I think I am so over being hot that thinking about Christmas sounds like a good idea! More pics coming soon.

caramel
I don't have a good picture to put up, but this past weekend, I made caramels. I have made a lot of caramel icing over the past few years, but I have never made any candy type caramels. So I got my candy thermometer out and tried making some. I have also been very intrigued by how people are putting bacon on everything, so I made my caramels with bacon. Now, I knew that I loved caramel and bacon, but I was not sure how I would feel about the two together. Well, they turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself. The crunchy, salty bacon was a perfect counter to the sweet caramel. I would love to whip up some more soon, so if you are in the mood for something unique, let me know!

Birthday Cake
This week, I got to do birthday cakes for two friends who share the same birthday. We went to Atlanta on Saturday, and I took the above cake for a friend's 30th birthday. We had a lot of fun floating down the Chattahoochee and then eating dinner (and cake) at Marlow's Tavern.
This cake was for another friend. Her birthday party was a surprise. I was sad I didn't get to go because I had to go teach at the jail, but I hear a good time was had by all!

a rainy wedding day
Recently, I have been doing a very poor job of keeping up my blog. Summer has been busy. We have gone on vacation, and I have been training for my half marathon in October. I have some projects that I need to post, and I will do that very soon. I just delivered this wedding cake, and I am so happy with the way that it turned out that I just had to come home and blog about it. I have really enjoyed working with this bride and her family. The wedding was at the bride's parents home. It was an amazing set up. Except for one thing, the bottom fell out of the sky as we were driving over to set up. If it is true that rain on your wedding day is good luck, this couple better buy a lotto ticket! It was a challenge setting up, but I think that the results were worth it! The grooms cake was also fun to do. Both the bride and groom are recent UGA alums, and so they wanted that reflected in the grooms cake. So, I made a football field, and they had a graphic artist create a jumbo tron with their picture in it.

Anniversary Cake and 100 posts!
Today marks my 100th blog post! This is officially 100, not like the last time where I had some drafts in there running the numbers up. To celebrate this occasion, I am doing a giveaway. enter by Sunday June 5th by leaving a comment here or on my facebook page. in the comment let me know what you would like (cake, cookies, or cupcakes) if you win the drawing!
This weeks project was an anniversary cake. Last year, I did the cakes for this couple's wedding. Instead of saving their top layer, they used the whole cake at the wedding. So, they had me make a new cake for their anniversary trip over the weekend.
